You Don't Have to Explain Yourself

Recently I took a little hiatus from my photography work as well as my other side hustle. I had to take several steps back to focus on family (husband & kids) and on my own self-care. When I first made this decision I felt a need to explain to people why I would be disappearing from social media for a while. Or why I wasn't taking new photography clients. Through out this process, I have come to the realization that you don't owe anyone an explanation unless your actions directly impact their daily life.

As I started to type this blog post I originally began it with an explanation of why I am back to my lifestyle blog, yet again, and all of this blah blah blah about how this time was going to be different. Then mid paragraph I deleted the whole thing. I said to myself, "who cares? You don't owe anyone an explanation for your choices." All that matters is that I am here now and I know what my intentions are. My job now is to show up and stay consistent and the rest will fall into place. When I first started my blog back in 2009 I remember telling myself, just write and they will come. That is exactly what I plan to do. Just keep writing.

Now that the "I'M BAAAACK" intro is out of the way. Let's talk about what I will be sharing on this new journey of mine.

Under this category, you can expect everything from life as a mom & wife, conversations surrounding some lifestyle choices I have made or that I am in the process of making. The changes that come with them and hopefully the positivity that flows as a result. But don't think it will be all sunshine and rainbows over here. I plan on getting real and being completely transparent around some pretty personal topics. My relationships, my faith, my body. Life has sent me on many new journeys this year and I plan on sharing them. I hope to start conversations with women about topics we may not always have a safe place to share our feelings or personal experiences.

OK, so this topic needed its own category. I absolutely love planners, paper, pens, stationery you name it. I have recently fallen head first into this whole planner community and I am completely in love. I even started a new IG account with everything planner related @picsandpaper on IG. If this is something you like and want to learn more about There will be a whole section dedicated to just this.

In this category, I will be sharing my personal thoughts and hoping to bring some hope, encouragement, smiles or pure inspiration your way. It could be a quote or affirmation. A scripture or life lesson. Something to make you think and consider making a change in your own life.

honor your pace

I am a photographer so it is only natural that I make space for some of my personal photography projects. Lack of inspiration was part of the reason I took this hiatus, to begin with. I have a few photography projects I will be working on and sharing them here will keep me accountable to myself to stay consistent and make time to shoot things I love and that inspire me. The story for these will be in the images so expect them to be photo heavy and light on the text.

That's It. See you around and don't be afraid to leave a comment or spark a conversation on twitter.

Peace, Peace!
